Candle Tips
For All candle types:
1) Always read the warning labels.
2) Never leave a candle burning unattended.
3) When extinguishing your candles dip wick into the liquid wax, using a nonflammable
instrument, then repositioning wick in upright position, this eliminates smoking.
4) Always keep wick trimmed to ¼” to eliminate smoking.
5)
Keep candles out of drafts, they cause candle flames to flicker, and smoke is released when the flame is disturbed.
6) Should a candle burn unevenly due to a draft, consider the following: Carefully push wick towards the higher side. Repeat this practice
a few times and the candle will repair itself.
For Jar Candles:
1) Always burn your candle one hour per inch of the width of the jar. For example if you have a 4 inch jar candle, burn for 4 continuous hours before extinguishing. This breaking process insures that it ill perform better and burn more evenly throughout the life of the
candle.
2) Never burn cracked or chipped jar candles.
3) Never allow a container candle to burn all the way to the bottom, the flame WILL
cause the glass to break!
Fragrance
Mushrooms: While burning your candle you may develop a carbon buildup
on your wick, commonly referred to as a Fragrance Mushroom. This is a friendly
reminder that you have purchased a handmade, highly scented candle. If you see
a carbon buildup on the wick, extinguish the candle, trim the wick to ¼” relight and enjoy!
Other hints:
1)
Place your new candles in the refrigerator for 3 hours or the freezer for 1 hour. This
will make your new candles last longer when you start using them. Wait at least
two hours after removing them from the freezer or refrigerator before burning the candles.
2) Using a snuff or placing the wick in wax to extinguish the candle will assure no smoke from
the candle and will assure you have no mushrooming. Do not blow your candles
out!
